Rajasthan - Music, Dance And Dishes By peterhutch Rajasthan pronunciation is the largest state of the Republic of India in terms of area. It encompasses most of the area of the large, inhospitable Great Indian Desert (Thar Desert), which has an edge paralleling the Sutlej-Indus river valley along its border with Pakistan. The region borders Pakistan to the west, Gujarat to the southwest, Madhya Pradesh to the southeast, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to the northeast and Punjab to the north. Rajasthan covers a vast area of 342,239 km² (about the size of Germany).
Rajasthan India Tour - the land of royalty is a glittering jewel set in the golden sands of a barren deserts landscape. The light that reflects off the golden sands engulfs a land renowned for its vibrant colors, people in bright clothes and beautiful jewelry, living in cities dotted and dominated by towering forts and palace that rise from the sands like mirage. It is among the richest states in the country as far as handicrafts are concerned
Music and dance:
There is a great tradition of popular poetry, which is written under the rival banners of Turru and Kalangi. This is a sung in groups in Jikri, Kanhaiyya or Geet(of the Meenas), Hele-ke-Khyal and Bam Rasiya of Eastern Rajasthan. Group singing of classical bandishes, called the Dangal or taalbandi is also unique to this region. Bhopas are singing priests of various deities or warrior saints. The Bhopas of Mataji wear costumes and play the Mashak.Rajasthan is culturally rich and has extensive tradition in art and culture, which reflects Indian way life. The dance, music and art forms have been watchfully cultivated and patronised by the erstwhile courts. An equally rich and varied folk culture from villages is both fascinating & mesmerising.
Rajasthani Dishes:
Rajasthan, the desert land famous all over the world for its architectural marvels-
its romantic palaces and colourful people is also equally popular for its unique, spicy and varied cuisine. For the royal Rajputs, one of the leading communities of Rajasthan, a meal is never complete without meat. They have mouthwatering dishes smothered in spices and chillies; almonds and cashew nuts like the soolas (grilled meat), Murgh mokul and the venison Kababs. But the Marwaris, another leading community of Rajasthan are strictly vegetarians. They have equally tasty maybe more fiery specialties with whatever ingredients available in the dry land. They use dried and powdered lentils, beans from indigenous plants like Gwarphali, kair, sangri and the flours of gehun (wheat), bajra (millet) and makka (corn) liberally to make soft rotis drowned in butter and ghee, kheechra (porridge).
Forts of Rajasthan:
Chittaurgarh Fort, Chittaurgarh: Probably India's greatest medieval fort, and its most chivalrous, it was from here that the Sisodias went to war against the Mughals at the famous battle of Haldighati. Set on a high plateau, Chittaurgarh sprawls supremely above the surrounding countryside. First established in the 7th century, Chittaur became the gaddi for the Sisodia rulers who proved themselves indomitable fighters. Its fortifications meander allong the ridges of the hills, and from these concealed vantage points, they extended their sway over their kindom.
Luni, one of the major rivers in Rajasthan, originates from the Aravali Range, 7 kilometer north of Ajmer. This is the only river that flows across the western part of Rajasthan. The river flows to Gujarat, where it drains at the Rann of Kutch. Luni is a seasonal river, which is also comparatively shallow than other rivers of the state. This river is also supplemented by many tributaries, which flow from the Aravali Range. Article Directory: http://www.articlecube.com Read about Diabetes Diet, Recipes.
